Roots and Relatives!
September 15, 2023 – Chesterfield, Michigan
Up around 6:00 and slowly getting organized. Since we are on the western edge of the Eastern Time Zone, sunrise comes pretty late; sunrise this morning was at 7:13.
Rather than have breakfast at the hotel, we decided to head to Buck’s Dixie Diner in Fair Haven on Anchor Bay – a usual stop on M’s Roots Trip. Scrambled eggs with sausages and hash browns for M; grilled ham and hash browns for R. A neat, local restaurant with a 1940’s – 1950’s theme that has been there forever. The drive along Anchor Bay and Saint Clair River was lovely, with beautiful old houses along the waterfront. Drove as far as Marine City, then back to the hotel.
Good news: Heat seems to be working!
Around noon, we drove back to Tom and Marie for another visit and lunch. Tom went off to buy fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and coleslaw. Then, back to the hotel.
Two more Midsomer Murders – now in Season 18 Episode 1, then some college football.
Tomorrow, we head to Davenport, Iowa and hope we don’t have a problem getting around Chicago. Being a Saturday, we hope for the best.
